LayerPlayer(tm) Features

LayerPlayer(tm) is one of the most exciting video FX extensions to come along in the Flyer world. With LayerPlayer, you can create complex video effects like you've seen on much more expensive NLE systems - and LayerPlayer lets you perform these effects in real time.
LayerPlayer lets you:
  1. Layer video by pre-set amounts
    • You select any two Flyer clips that reside on opposite video drive 'chains'
    • You select a layering percentage (0%, 25%, 50%, or 75%)
    • Automatically plays both clips, synchronized, layered to your desired degree
    • You may manipulate the T-Bar to manually adjust the layering effect during playback

  2. Mix video with a 'partial' Toaster effect applied to two Flyer clips
    • Select any two Flyer clips that reside on opposite video drive 'chains'
    • Select a T-bar 'pull' percentage (0%, 25%, 50%, or 75%)
    • Select your Toaster effect (like a wipe, or digital fly-off, for example)
    • The Toaster sets up a T-bar 'pull' with your chosen effect and
    • Synchronously plays both clips with your effect 'in effect'!
    • Use this LayerPlayer 'mixer' for split screens, partial fly-offs, and much more
    • Works with digital, anim, wipes, and most other Toaster effects
    • You can manipulate the T-Bar on manually during playback on many Toaster effects

  3. Key two video clips to play in separate luminance portions of an image ('keyhole' alphakey - 2nd MPEG sample clip, below)
    • Load an image or Framestore into DVx
    • Set the luminance keyer to the desired level to isolate light and dark areas of DVx
    • Select two Flyer clips that reside on opposite video drive 'chains'
    • Select the 'Layer With AlphaKey' option in A++
    • Activate the luminance keyer to superimpose DVx
    • Stealth synchronously plays one clip in the 'light' area, the other in the 'dark' area of your image/Framestore
    • Stealth can instantly load IFF RGB 24-bit images into DV1 to permit rapidly experiments

  4. Key one video clip over another during synchronized playback (1st MPEG clip example, below)
    • Set the luminance keyer to isolate light and dark areas of Channel 3 or 4
    • Select two Flyer clips that reside on opposite video drive 'chains'
    • Select the 'Layer With AlphaKey' option in A++
    • Activate the luminance keyer on Channel 3 or Channel 4
    • Stealth synchronously plays both clips, one 'keyed' over the other according to the keyer settings

LayerPlayer opens up a world of unlimited real-time video layering, mixing, partial FX, split screens, multiple moving video sources in keyed titles, and more. You can set up real-time LayerPlayer effects to play onto tape and digitize them back into the Flyer in a few minutes. Create complex lengthy combination video effects with LayerPlayer and then include those items in other Flyer projects by simply digitizing them back into the Flyer from any high quality tape system. Or let LayerPlayer transform your Flyer system into a super-high-end FX machine for playing complex video mixes and keyed clips into another video capture system. MegageM will soon add examples of LayerPlayer techniques to this page by doing exactly that - playing them from the Flyer directly into a PC-based MPEG production system.
The few words on this page don't do justice to the beauty and complexity of effects you can now achieve on your Flyer with LayerPlayer!
